1. Acceptance of Terms
By joining the Witch Hill Discord server or interacting with The Witch Bot (collectively, "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please leave the server and cease use of the bot.
These terms exist alongside Discord's own Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, both of which also apply to your participation.
2. Server Rules
Be Kind
Personal attacks such as threats, doxing, harassment, bullying, homophobia, transphobia, racism, bigotry, hate speech, and other actions that single out people or groups of people will not be tolerated.
Respect People's Identity
A person's identity can include a person's name, pronouns, gender, sexuality, or lack of these things.
Respect People's Boundaries
If another member tells you that your interactions are inappropriate, respect their boundaries and end the interaction.
Real World Politics and Religion
Politics and religion come up often and tend to be fairly contentious topics with many conflicting opinions. Refrain from discussing politics or religion in text chats and from posting political or religious images.
No Spam
Spam is defined as unsolicited messages or repeated messages containing the same content.
Self Promotion
Self promotion is essential to the health of the TTRPG environment as well as many other markets. We provide the #self-promotion channel for people to use to promote their goods and services. Self promotion outside of that channel will be removed.
Unmoderated Channels
Unmoderated channels are places where auto-mod is not active and the 18+ flag is set. Participating in unmoderated chats implies consent to view material contained within. All rules above this one are enforced. Otherwise, unmoderated channels are open to anything that does not violate Discord's Community Guidelines.
Adult Content
Any content that could be considered 18+ is restricted to the unmoderated channels. These channels are age restricted to align with Discord's content policy.
Reporting Posts
If a post appears to break a rule, use @The Witch's "report to mods" feature (found in #announcements) to submit the post for review.
Roleplay Etiquette
- RP is not a single player experience. Allow and encourage other players to speak up. Watch for players who have not had a chance to have a say in group decisions. Wait for your turn to speak. Ask other players for their characters' opinions on your character's decisions.
- Metagaming. At its most basic, metagaming is using and/or acting on knowledge that your character does not have. If you are unsure whether your character would know something, ask the GM.
- Consent in RP. While games make it possible to use your character's skills to manipulate other players, please get consent before attempting any RP that could make someone uncomfortable. This includes sexual encounters, abusive behaviour, overly antagonistic behaviour, or trying to subjugate another character. A session that has been consented to will end if consent is withdrawn. Use of a consent form is encouraged to help the GM and players understand boundaries.
3. Use of The Witch Bot
The Witch Bot provides features including XP tracking, AI voice assistance, session note generation, ambient music, and world-building tools. By using the bot, you agree to:
- Use bot commands and features only for their intended purposes within the server.
- Not attempt to exploit, abuse, or reverse-engineer the bot.
- Not use the bot to generate, distribute, or store illegal, harmful, or offensive content.
- Not attempt to flood or overload bot commands in a way that disrupts other users.
Bot features that involve voice recording (such as the AI voice assistant) require active participation in a voice channel. By remaining in a voice channel while recording is active, you consent to the temporary capture of your voice for processing as described in our Privacy Policy.
4. AI-Generated Content
Several bot features use local AI models (via Ollama) to generate text and audio responses. You acknowledge that:
- AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected.
- AI responses do not represent the views or opinions of the server administrators.
- You will not rely on AI-generated content for important decisions.
- Content generated by AI features remains subject to all server rules.
5. Intellectual Property
Content you post in the server (messages, images, etc.) remains your own. By posting in the server, you grant Witch Hill a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content within the context of the server.
The Witch Bot's code, assets, and AI-generated outputs are the property of the server administrators. You may not copy, redistribute, or use them outside the server without explicit permission.
6. Moderation and Enforcement
Server administrators and moderators reserve the right to:
- Issue warnings, mute, kick, or permanently ban any member who violates these terms or the server rules.
- Remove any content that violates these terms or is otherwise deemed harmful to the community.
- Modify these terms at any time. Changes will be communicated via the server's announcement channels.
Moderation actions are taken at the discretion of the moderation team. Ban appeals may be submitted to a server administrator via direct message.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the bot will be available at all times, error-free, or that any particular feature will continue to function. The Service may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time without notice.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the server administrators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including loss of data or any harm resulting from AI-generated content.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms of Use at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision. Continued participation in the server after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
